“Art and Design is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise; with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality.” Quentin Blake – Children’s Laureate
Engaging Creatively with the World
At St Piran's, art is seen as a vehicle that can offer all pupils the opportunity to engage creatively in the world. It enables them to communicate by means other than words, to develop ideas, and to express themselves freely, where there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ in the work they produce.
Fulfilling Creative Potential
We believe that each child should fulfil their creative potential, and, to facilitate this, pupils are given many opportunities to undertake activities which develop their skills in exploring and developing ideas, investigating and making art, craft and design, evaluating and developing the work they produce and acquiring an understanding of the creative work of other cultures, both ancient and modern.
A Subject for Visionaries
Art is for visionaries. What might begin with pencil and paper, today, could be rendered with a stylus and software, tomorrow. With the continual evolution of the Internet, the world is becoming a more visually-driven environment and we aim to give our pupils a solid grounding in a subject that is always evolving.
