Why St Piran’s?

I have had the most wonderful experience with my youngest son and the teachers are exceptional!

Parent Quote

At St Piran's, we strive to provide the best preparatory experience in the area through a combination of inspiring teaching, a wide range of extracurricular activities, top-notch facilities, and our nurturing approach. We believe in creating an inclusive environment for all children, regardless of gender, as we recognise the positive contributions each child can make to our school. This approach is crucial for fostering positive social and behavioural development in young children.

The school offers preparatory education for children from the age of 2 years to 11 years. As the name suggests it is the foundation of education and prepares children for the next stage of their education. These building blocks are the cornerstone of education, and it is essential that the foundation is solid, and that the environment creates a love of learning.

At our school, we hold the belief that the most adept instructors of a particular subject are those who have pursued a degree in that area of study. This is particularly relevant in disciplines such as music, languages, sports, IT, and art. Even for our youngest learners, their abilities and proficiencies are enhanced more rapidly under the guidance of expert educators.

Our Year 6 guides were delightful and clearly proud of their school. They were able to answer all of our questions.

The Admission Process

Fact Finding

Visit the school, meet the Headmaster and ask questions of the Registrar.

Register

Your child will be added to the admission list based on the date of application. Following that, we will obtain and evaluate their existing school reports, taking into account their year group, to determine if our school is a suitable fit for them.

Complete the registration form and pay a non-refundable fee of £120.

Taster Days and Assessment

The process varies depending on the child's age. For younger children, we invite them and their parents for a meeting to observe their interactions with other children. Those entering Years 1 and 2 will also meet with the Head of Year. Prospective pupils in Years 3 to 6 are given a Taster Day at the school and informal assessments are conducted.

Offer

If we have a place, and we believe we can offer the right environment for your child, an offer will be made.

To accept a place a deposit of £1000 becomes payable (£500 is refundable against the first term’s fees). Once the deposit is received your place is confirmed.

Enrolment

Parents are required to fill out all permission forms, and the details provided are then added to our school system.
