Dog Therapy and Counselling

Sometimes, our pupils require more bespoke support and we are proud to offer therapy dog and counselling sessions as part of this.

Dog therapy

We work with the dog therapy charity PAWS CIC , who on a weekly basis send our trained therapy dog into school, providing comfort, companionship and a calming presence. Children can spend time taking part in various activities with the dog, stroking it, going for walks or simply sitting quietly together. These sessions are particularly beneficial for those unable to verbalise their anxieties and helps build confidence and promote emotional regulation.

1:1 Counselling

For children who need more focused support, we offer 1:1 counselling sessions with a qualified child counsellor, provide by a local charity ‘Number 22’. These sessions provide a safe space for pupils to explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.

Referrals for any of the above interventions can be sensitively made through Form Teachers or anyone on our pastoral team, and will be followed up and organised by our Deputy Head Pastoral to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
