Music is enjoyed by nearly everyone, whether they are playing an instrument, singing or merely listening to it. At St Piran's, we offer a broad approach to this creative subject where pupils enjoy engaging in a wealth of musical opportunities.

From Recorders to Rock Groups!

As children progress through the school they can participate in recorder and string ensembles, ukulele groups, rock bands as well as the many choirs that are on offer throughout the school. Entry to the Chapel Choir is by audition and this choir performs to a high standard on a weekly basis in the Chapel services. A music technology suite has recently been added to the newly refurbished music room and the department is visited by MTech who run three weekly composing courses for children from Years 3-6.

A Subject for Risk-Takers

Music is for risk-takers. Performance opportunities abound, offering pupils the chance to step outside their comfort-zones in a safe and constructive environment. Young musicians can take part in Christmas plays, Harvest Festivals, Carol Concerts, chapel services, performances in assemblies, local festivals and summer shows. Every child will have had the opportunity to express themselves musically through performing, composing and improvising both individually and in collaboration with others.
