Our Philosophy

Our main focus is to establish a caring and encouraging atmosphere for our children. We are dedicated to offering opportunities for individual, emotional, spiritual, and academic development. Our end objective is to cultivate in our pupils a sense of accountability towards themselves and others, coupled with an understanding of the gratification that accompanies it. At the core of our approach is our Pastoral Care, which is designed to build up resilience and inventiveness, encourage positive behaviours, and inculcate the principles and ethical direction that will steer your child's prosperity for a lifetime.

Leading by Example

Our staff have the necessary expertise and experience to show, by example, what is healthy behaviour.  In addition to being knowledgeable in their subjects, St Piran's staff double as motivators, evaluators and occasional counsellors. We teach strength of character and determination alongside academia, as happy, balanced students make better use of learning opportunities and perform to the best of their abilities.

Personal Reflection

In order to inspire our students to recognise their own potential and the opportunities available to them, we have created an "expectations acronym." This acronym is displayed throughout the school in the form of posters, hanging ties, and mobiles. Each word in the acronym reinforces the school's desired behaviour for each student. The values represented by these words are emphasised in assemblies and PSHCE lessons throughout the school year. These values are fundamental to the school's mission.

The acronym is:

Safe
Trustworthy
Polite
Inspiring
Responsible
Achieving
Nurtured
Self-confident

We understand that each child is unique and faces their own set of challenges. As educators, it is our responsibility to be mindful of their individual needs and potential. By prioritising their personal and academic growth, we often see improved academic results as a positive outcome. We strive to cultivate well-rounded individuals who will thrive both in and outside the classroom.
