I am delighted to be Headmaster at St Piran’s School, a post I took up in September 2001. My experiences in schools are wide and varied which I hope gives me an excellent overview of education in general and of both educational initiatives and innovations. I have taught in a single sex, boys’ boarding school, overseas in a Shell school in Brunei, a state middle school, an all-girls independent day school, a co-ed boarding school and now St Piran’s! Outside of school I have become increasingly involved within IAPS, the Independent Association of Prep Schools, our umbrella association; I sit on the committee for our particular IAPS district, the IAPS Education Committee and most recently on IAPS Council. I also have a role on the ISEB Executive Committee, the Independent Schools Examination Board responsible for Common Entrance at 11+ and 13+. I am a Geographer by degree but I have taught the full range of subjects in the primary age range in both state and independent schools. I have been an ISI team inspector since 2001 and been involved in ten inspections in a variety of different schools. I have a broad interest in sport, having played at a reasonable level in many major sports as well as having a social interest in many others! I have two daughters who are now growing up fast and who both came through the school.
