Sport sits firmly at the heart of the curriculum with our busy, vibrant school providing our pupils with the opportunity to learn new skills, challenge themselves, work as a team and simply have fun! While St Piran's has earned an excellent reputation for sporting success, our competitive achievements, numerous sporting scholarships and fabulous sports tours are only a small part of what we do.
We have a fantastic team of teachers and coaches who offer a wide variety of sports. Their enthusiasm and passion enable each child, from Nursery through to Year 6, to fulfil their potential. All children get the opportunity to play in competitive matches through fixtures against other schools from Year 2 and during our inter-school clan matches.
A Range of Opportunities
St Piran's has an excellent range of sporting facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, dance studio, playing fields, PE hall and an all-weather pitch. These enable us to cover a wide variety of sports from netball, football, hockey and rugby to trampolining, swimming, biathlon and dance. These are only a handful of sporting activities that we do at St Piran's as we truly believe in giving the children as many opportunities as possible.
A Subject for the Aspirational
Sport is for the aspirational and as much about attitude as it is ability: we believe that pupils should learn to appreciate the necessity to be sportsmanlike, as well as competitive. We value participation, team spirit and a desire to succeed. This develops a love of sport and an ambition to continue participating, which will stay with them throughout their lives.
